To beat the market or to outperform the average investor we must adopt an asset mix that is fundamentally different from the average. This result may be axiomatic but it leaves us with the challenge to identify those asset mix differences that will add value...Do not abandon all expert advice, but solicit views of the industry's experts. They tend to be thoughtful and well-reasoned and maintain balance in their views as opposed to preaching absolutism. They are successful because they draw on their contacts instead of relying on what they themselves know or can reason out alone.
