Target a Company with a Large Female Workforce
In 1995, during an early buyout at a Dallas technology company, I brought on one female client. Through her, I brought on four more; that turned to eight, and multiplied until I now have over 300 female clients. --Sammie Gatti
How do you find and become visible to groups of women? "You start with one," Gatti says. "In 1995, during an early buyout at a Dallas technology company, I brought on one female client. Through her, I brought on four more; that turned to eight, and multiplied until I now have over 300 female clients."
Gatti's best advice to advisors who want to focus on working with women is to target a company that has a large female workforce and develop a client base within that company. She also recommends that you become active in the community through board member service and volunteer activities tied to helping disadvantaged groups of women and children. Finally, be sure to socialize with your clients; women appreciate being part of a community more than men typically do. Gatti is known for her annual holiday party and assorted other smaller events (often benefiting a local charity) she hosts each year.
