Given the choice between reeling in a new client and preparing paperwork for said client, Randy Scritchfield chooses the former every time. "There are three areas that I try to have a hand in at all times: building relationships with clients, creativity in devising solutions for them and leadership," he says. "If it doesn't fit those, I avoid it." It's not that he's averse to workâas president of Montgomery Financial Group, Scritchfield logs six-day workweek in his Damascus, Md., office. But he knows what his time is worth. "I refuse to do everything just because I can," he says. "Any time you can pay someone less than what your time is worth to do a task, you should delegate."
